The inagurual Malaysian-Hungarian Rectors' Forum

On February 10, 2025, the first Malaysia–Hungary Rectors’ Forum was held at Sunway University, bringing together representatives of 9 Hungarian and 28 Malaysian universities to strengthen future cooperation.

The inagurual Malaysian-Hungarian Rectors' Forum at Sunway University on February 10, 2025 was attended by representatives from 9 Hungarian and 28 Malaysian universities. HE Ambassador Petra Ponevács-Pana and Sunway University President Prof. Sibrandes Poppema offered welcoming remarks, which was followed by the Hungarian Rectors' Conference President Dr. László Borhy's opening speech, and keynote speeches from Academic Excellence Division Director Prof. Azidah Abu Ziden (Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia) and Hungarian Rectors' Conference Secretary General Dr. Zoltán Dubéczi. Both speakers emphasised the strong ties between the two nations and expressed hopes for enhancing collaborations. The forum also featured special interests presentations, where Vice-Dean Dr. Majid Movahedi of Széchenyi István University and Rector Dr. Tamás Sterbenz of the Hungarian University of Sports Science shared insights into their institutions. Széchenyi István University, known for its rapid growth and focus on engineering and production, collaborates with prominent companies like Audi Hungaria Motor Ltd. Meanwhile, the Dr. Tamás Sterbenz highlighted Hungary’s impressive sporting achievements, having produced 151 Olympic gold medalists among over 3,000 graduates. The event concluded with a thought-provoking open discussion, where attendees explored a wide range of potential avenues for future collaboration.  With a spirit of mutual respect and enthusiasm for the future, the event marked an exciting new chapter in international educational collaboration.
