Rediscovering Hungarian naturalist and ethnographer János Xántus’ legacy in Sarawak... Reserarchers and presenters Dr. Tamás Kiss and Mr. Christopher Higgs shared Xántus’ remarkable contributions in Borneo - this time in Kuching, Sarawak on November 29, 2024. Thanks to the extraordinary collaboration between the Embassy, the Borneo Cultures Museum, and the Friends of Sarawak Museum, Tamás and Chris revealed new insights into Xántus' contributions to natural history and ethnography in Sarawak. The event served as a remarkable cultural bridge between Hungary and Malaysia. The exhibition on Xántus and other Hungarian orientalists runs until mid-December. We can't wait for the book entitled Xántus: A Hungarian in Borneo to come out in 2025, when we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Xántus!
