Dr. György László, the government commissioner responsible for economic strategies and the Teach for Hungary program, paid an official visit to Malaysia between January 11 and 15. During the visit, he promoted his book The Middle-Class Revolution: A Meritocratic Strategy for the 21st Century, published in 2025 by World Scientific Publishing in Singapore, among Malaysian professional and political circles, and offered cooperation to adapt the data-driven Harmonious Growth Index (H2DI) — a tool for measuring sustainable development — to the Malaysian context.
The commissioner, with the support of Hungary’s diplomatic mission, held discussions with the Asia-Europe Institute (AEI) of the University of Malaya, the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER), the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS Malaysia), leaders and researchers of the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI), senior economists from INTI, HELP, and SEGI universities, as well as Deputy Finance Minister Liew Chin Tong and Melaka Governor Mohd Ali Rustam. His program was also reported by the national news agency BERNAMA.
