The Embassy of Hungary is seeking a person to fulfil one vacancy for the full time position of Economic Section Assistant to the Head of the Economic Section to start working from June 2024.

I. Job Description

As an Economic Section Assistant you will be contributing to the enhancement of the general trade relations between Malaysia and Hungary in all its aspects. This includes handling inquires received via email or phone and organising and supporting relevant economic events and visits. As the administrative support to the Economic Section, you will be responsible for maintaining full confidentiality and managing information flow and following up on deadlines and commitments connected to the Economic Section.

II. Main tasks, functions & duties

  1. Understands the needs of Hungarian business representatives, reaches out to them and supports them to enter or expand on the Malaysian market, and assists in solving market access issues.
  2. Contributes to the development of Hungarian economic diplomacy in Malaysia, including the organisation of events and identification of opportunities for individual Hungarian companies or sectors.
  3. Prepares briefing notes, talking points and speeches on economic and political issues for the Head of the Economic Section and for the Ambassador.
  4. Preparing documentation and presentations, including correspondence, briefs and reports, and researching and collating material to meet the Head of the Economic Section’s needs for official trips and meetings.
  5. Managing the Head of the Economic Section’s calendar and schedule of appointments; receiving visitors/officials from the government and business sector; and taking minutes as required and following up actions, as required and appropriate.
  6. Liaising with Malaysian authorities and local contacts in order to solve tasks related to the Economic Section or representatives of the Hungarian–Malaysian Business Community.
  7. Updating and developing a list of contacts related to the Economic Section.
  8. Prepare and translate documents in English and Malay.
  9. Monitors national and regional political developments.
  10. Assisting logistic arrangements for all official events.
  11. Any other duties that may be engaged or directed by the Ambassador.

III. Required skills

The candidate

  1. Has previous experience in public and/or private administration and business.
  2. Has a good understanding of the latest economic and political developments in Malaysia and the ASEAN region.
  3. Is fluent and has excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Melayu.
  4. Has solid written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Has a good knowledge of MS Office.
  6. Is good in teamwork, well-organised and a strong multitasker.
  7. Fulfils the given tasks, functions and duties in a trustworthy and autonomous manner.
  8. Has flexibility, meaning he or she participates, when required, in programmes and receptions outside office hours.

IV. Level of education

University level (at least BA diploma).

V. Level of experience

At least 2 years of experience.
