The Embassy of Hungary in Kuala Lumpur together with Golden Screen Cinemas and Cinema Online had a football-themed HUNGARIAN FILM FIESTA IN MALAYSIA which was held on the 7th - 10th of June 2018 at GSC Pavilion KL. This was to commemorate the 65th year anniversary of the football game between Hungary and England (at which Hungary won 6-3, becoming the first team to beat England in London in 90 years) and to also welcome the 21 st FIFA World Cup 2018, which is currently being held in Russia. The Hungarian Film Fiesta presented two documentaries and two comedies, providing a glimpse into Hungary’s glorious football past.
This year, it was our pleasure to have 2 very prominent guests. One of the esteemed guests was FIFA Puskas Award 2016 winner Mr Mohd Faiz Subri himself, whose presence fittingly denotes the main theme of the film festival. Also we had Mr György Szöllősi, Ambassador of Hungarian Football Tradition and affairs concerning the heritage of Ferenc Puskás; one of the world’s greatest footballers ever. We had the privilege to fix an appointment between Mr György Szöllősi and Asian Football Confederation. They voiced their hope that their love and passion for football will continue to grow and strengthen their ties.
